Blind Date

I took the day off yesterday. Or rather, I tried to, but ended up at the office for most of the day anyway. Be that as it may, I took the morning off, to have a coffee and to meet my “blind date”. Its a friend I’d known online for a couple of years now, and kept planning to meet up, but never did. You know, just one of those things.

So, feeling very sien with work and things, I called her up and asked if she was free to have a coffee and finally get a chance for us to meet up. She was, so woohoo! Now, the scary part.

I didn’t know what to expect! I mean, I’d chatted with her online before, and talked on the phone and I knew all about her family, problems etc, but meeting someone face to face is just different. You just never know if they’d be:

I’m happy to say that it was the former and we had a great time. The last time I met someone from the internet, they turned out to be the latter. Damn scary I tell you!

Her biggest concern was that she didn’t know what I looked like. Also her husband was wary about her meeting me, well just in case you know, that I might turn out to be a serial murderer or something…LOL…

So, we kept to all the usual “meeting people from the internet” tips:

• meet in public places – Dome cafe in a shopping mall
• make sure people know where you are – I’m sure her husband did as well as my sis LOL

All in all, it was a fun morning, even if I had to get back to the office after that which spoilt the day a tad. But, I got to wear jeans to the office which slightly made up for it
