Do not try this at home

I got a funny email from a friend. She was supposed to send me a package from the USA but I had yet to hear from her to say that she had sent it. A couple of days after I emailed her she replied with an embarrassing confession. She was unable to leave the house due to a botched experiment with home brazilian waxing strips. OUCH!! I cannot imagine what might have gone wrong and my hair is just standing on end thinking about it! Since she lives in Chicago laser hair removal might have been a less painful alternative but I’m not sure if they do laser job ahem… down there. Too risky eh?

Eating out in San Diego

I’ve been reading this book called “Floaters”. Its an old book I picked up during some clearance sale and is light enough for bedtime reading. Its set in San Diego which I associate with Sea World and killer whales but not food. In fact, the book does not say much about San Diego restaurants. I’m sure there are some good eating places there. I’m a foodie, I’ll sniff out some. hehe… Isn’t San Diego where the famous lobster or crayfish restaurant is? Or is that San Francisco?

Paypal - its alive!

Finally! 2 weeks of nail-biting suspense about whether the problems some international members were having with Paypal is permanent or a glitch is resolved. Looks like its a glitch after all, and its fixed!!

I’m one of those affected Paypal members. Contrary to what we felt, I don’t think Malaysians are being singled out to be victimised by Paypal. There are people from other countries that cannot withdraw monies to local bank accounts but only US bank accounts that are facing this problem too. Lets not hide our heads in the sand and think its all about us. The Ebay community too is up in arms and they are bigger than just Malaysia.

Anyway, I digress.

Suffice to say that although my nails are worn down to a nub and I was contemplating doing evil deeds to add a fictitious bank account, and contemplating too spending up to $30 on a VMI card (that gives me a virtual US bank account), I now can breathe easy for all my pending payments were accepted without a hitch, legally and without having to spend a sen, just a week before they would be sent back! Paypal sure knows how to keep us on our toes!

So, as Giddy Tiger said, we are now finally paid. Having the money staring back at you, taunting you for not being able to accept it is torture in the highest degree. Finally being able to see it as a balance in your Paypal account is sweet indeed.

The good thing that came out of this is that I’ve made new friends in Giddy Tiger and Rinnah, both of whom I spent time chatting with on gmail as we tried to find ways to resolve this problem. :)

So take heart for in times of darkness there is always a silver lining.

Now go forth and accept those pending Paypal payments!!

Who buys these multi-million dollar properties?

Every time I open The Edge newspaper, I get this wave of envy over the multi-million dollar properties available for sale. They are inevitably large bungalows that are fully renovated with top quality finishings, and with nice views or lands. They also cost more than I’ll ever earn in a lifetime, yet I’m sure there must be people buying them else it won’t be worth the time of the real estate marketing company to advertise it in a paper like The Edge where I’m sure advertising isn’t cheap. For now, I’m looking and drooling and working my way up to buying a large expensive property one day even if its just going to be just me staying in there!

Sewage damages Court files at Duta Court Complex

sun

Here’s the headlines from The Sun newspaper this morning.

In gist, a sewage manhole overflowed and damaged court files for some civil cases including high profile cases. Makes me wonder which high profile case is affected by this shitty mess.

The Duta Court complex, being touted as the world’s biggest court complex seems to have been plagued by calamities ever since it was opened:

  • ceiling fell in in a Judge’s chambers
  • Blackout causing cases to be postponed
  • Burst water pipe in the cafeteria
  • sewage overflow damages court files

So typical. Quantity not quality seems to be the order of the day.

But why I love this headline is because I can say “OMG! The Court Complex is full of shit!” and its the pure and simple truth! :)
