Aside:
I wrote this post out prettily yesterday and its all gone up in a puff of Vanishing Powder. Bummer! If you read it then somehow, sorry if it seems like deja vu eh?
Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix has finally opened in cinemas! Thanks to a dear pink fluffy sister, I’m going to see the movie this weekend! Its going to be fun because I haven’t been to the movies in ages, and I’m going to see a “hot” movie which makes me pretty cool eh?
Anyway, what with the annual Potter-mania hitting everyone, I decided to get myself sorted by the Sorting Hat into a House at Hogwarts (whoever said I was a Muggle?!) and I saw Beetrice was from Ravensclaw. So, where did I fit?
So, last night, I crawled into Dumbledore’s study and picked up the slumbering Sorting Hat. Carefully, I lowered it onto my head, and after a bit of thought, it shouted:

Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?
Terrified, I threw it back on the shelf. I did not see that coming at all! But I like the idea of being Clever, Cunning and Determined.
So, it looks like I will be joining Sneaky Snape and Dreadful Draco Malfoy at their table. These were my in-depth results:
Your in-depth results are:
Slytherin - 13
Gryffindor - 12
Ravenclaw - 8
Hufflepuff - 5
1 point determines if I was a Slytherin or Gryffindor. That just tells you just how thin the line is between golden shiny good and snaky slithering darkness.
Makes you wonder - if all the potential Dark Sides go to Slytherin and all the goody two shoes go to Gryffindor, is it any wonder that they end up in the great extremes that they do?! They should mix them up a little. Slip a Draco Malfoy into Gryffindor and see if his nature is as gold as his hair.
On another note, I cannot remember what I’ve read of the Order of the Phoenix save that I did not like it. I just finished reading The Half-Blood Prince a couple of days ago and I have a lot to say about it. Not all good.
Ok then. Come come. Put on the Sorting Hat and tell me which Hogwarts House you belong to? Are there anymore Slytherins out there to join me? Its scary sitting here alone.

For everyone who was wondering:
- why I haven’t been updating for a few days
- why you can’t access my site without being told I’m suspended
- where in the world is Carmen Santiago… eh no.. Paris Beaverbanks?
Rest assured, I have been here all along.
My site went on the blink yesterday, causing me to panic. I thought:
- Shit! I’ve been hacked!
- My last post on the New 7 Wonders of the World must have pissed off fans of Machu Picchu
- My last post on the New 7 Wonders of the World must have pissed off fans of Pikachu
But no. It was something mundane called a server overload on my host’s server. I don’t think it was caused by me - I don’t have that many visitors. However, he was moving my sites over to a new server so there was some downtime caused.
For now, this site is up and hopefully, the others will follow suit. Sorry for being inaccessible, but hey! I’m back now!
Yay!

We just got a whole new set of 7 Wonders of the World.

This is a result of an online global election where people all over were invited to submit their sites or monuments of choice, and once finalised, invited to vote on it. This is the result.
I’m just wondering if this is necessary. I mean there were already 7 wonders of the world in place before this right? I grew up learning that the 7 wonders of the world were:
- The Pyramids in Egypt
- The Great wall of China
- Stonehenge in England
- The leaning tower of Pisa, Italy
- The Hanging gardens of Babylon (extinct)
- The Taj Mahal, India
- The Parthenon, Greece
Ok, so maybe the list was a tad jumbled up from the ancient and modern world. I would have loved to see the Wonders of the Ancient world though. Only the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt still remains from the ancient world so its do-able I guess.
Now, my question is:
Why aren’t the Pyramids of Egypt deserving of a place as one of the purported New 7 Wonders of the World?
Until today, no one can explain the pyramids - how they were built or how they got here. Is that not a wonder in itself? Or did they think that having the pyramids in the list is too trite. Pyramids are so last season dah-ling!
Honestly, I don’t think the Taj Mahal deserves to be on the list. The Taj Mahal was built as a symbol of love of a Sultan for his queen. It was not even completed in his lifetime, and in the process of building it, he put the architect to death so he would never build another. I don’t think that makes it a wonder of the world. Other than it being a white marble elephant, there isn’t much to wonder about it. Our Dayabumi might as well be on the list - white elephant that it is LOL…
Ditto the colloseum. Its impressive, I don’t deny it. When I visited it, my overactive imagination transported me back to the glory days of Rome when the colloseum was still in use - I could hear the roar of the crowd, the roar of the lions, the screams of the gladiators. I could smell the sweat in the arena and the sharp metallic smell of blood. But I don’t think its a wonder of the world.
In fact, looking for a representative of Italy, I would vote the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is testament to defiance of all laws. It has survived earthquakes and the law of gravity to keep standing till today ever since Galileo did his gravity experiments on it. Its a “wonder” its even standing at all!
Oh wait! I think I know why these sites are on the new 7 wonders of the world list. Hands up how many people now want to travel to see these sites? How many people have heard of Machu Picchu (no, not Pikachu) before this? How many have seen Petra outside of Indiana Jones?

Aha! Its a tourism thing! Its time to make Mexico, Jordan, Peru and Brazil sexy and attractive for travellers who want to tell their friends “I have sen the New 7 Wonders of the World!” Aha! I’ve broken the code.
Its ok, Egypt, I’ll still go and see your great Pyramids. For me, they will always be one of the Wonders of the World.

I feel so loved
Rinnah and Giddy Tiger both link loved this site and since we can all do with some linky love, here is the list and my additions. The only problem is, I don’t know who is using the Do Follow plugin or not. I don’t know if I am or not… um…
*****
1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals†list.
4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds†section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

I read on Tine’s blog about her 3 reasons she stayed on with blogging and saw that it was a post which she had written for Blog Project: Three on Daily Blog Tips. So, I was inspired to come up with my own post featuring the magical number 3 (as opposed to the overdose of 7 from yesterday)
Here are 3 phrases containing 3 words that every most women would love to hear:
- You’ve lost weight!
- Love your hair!
- You look good!
Vanity, thy name is woman.
