I just got back from the soft opening of the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur which was opened to the public today. I’d been watching it come up on the site of the former Bukit Bintang Girls’ School opposite The Westin Hotel and Starhill Gallery.
Its quite a monster of a building. Huge and the potential is awesome. The parking can be a bit of a problem though because there is only 1 real entrance that I could see. For now, maybe because they aren’t ready yet, they have diverted the parking in through another entrance. The whole Jalan Bukit Bintang is already so jam packed at the best of times, this opening will just make the traffic worse.
Here are a selection of stores which are already opened, that I managed to grab photos of on the trusty camera phone:
I’d say at the end of the day, the Pavilion looks to be a Suria KLCC landed in Bukit Bintang. I believe the mall that will truly suffer with the opening of Pavilion is Suria KLCC. The stores in the Pavilion are very similar to those found in KLCC and 1 Utama – a mix of high street and high end brands.
The interior is still partly complete so there is a lot of renovation still on going and many stores are yet to be opened. I do not believe it will affect Starhill Gallery because that caters more to patrons of high end and luxury products. Lot 10 and Sungei Wang Plaza cater more to the mid-range crowd so they too will have their customers.
Berjaya Times Square which is more or less within the vicinity will be affected for sure because many stores found in there are in Pavilion too. The only thing Berjaya Times Square has going for them is the fact of the Imbi monorail stop right on its doorstep.
All in all, I have this to say: In the coming weeks, you may find me hanging out at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Its a new mall to explore and there are some brands I’ve been waiting for which are now available to us at the Pavilion. More preliminary reviews will be posted up on All about Shopping! soon. Stay tuned.

I love this mall is the best mall in KL
6 months down the line and the crowd has been reducing every month,it is an exclusive mall but it has no draw card, you cant compare it to klcc,so many shops are closing down,so many are not even meeting thr rentals and so many have not even opened their tills 4 march, so you tell me is this the great fall of the so called great mall…….
i m going there in june !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
