Groovy mojo update

austinpowers I received an email from a friend today telling me how frustrating it was that my site was not updated, which truly made me feel chastised. I have been neglecting my site(s) in a manner of speaking. I told someone yesterday I felt I’d lost my blogging mojo.

My beauty site had been down for a few days… and I did not even notice.  It was only when I logged into my stat counter on a whim yesterday, that I noticed something was amiss. My counter was barely registering any hits, which was very odd, as thats the more popular site. So, I tried checking the site and found that it was not loading from the server. A quick frantic email to my host quickly got the matter resolved by evening - whew!

However, what worried me was that I did not panic, as I would have done a month or two ago. I’d also been quite lax with the updates there as well as here. The recent PR demotions did not help with the morale too (yes I was hit but that’s life!). But I’m trying to find my blogging mojo again so do bear with me ok? It might not be as scandalous a trip or as groovy as Austin Powers but I trust I’ll get it back ;)

Might the loss of mojo have something to do with my getting a bit of a life? (I highly recommend getting a life by the way… ;) ) The past weekends have been activity packed and I do welcome the blogging break. I used to take time on weekends to update my blogs and plan ahead. However now, I’m left with squeezing whatever I can out of my weekdays. Not much juice left though, because what with one thing and another, even weekdays and nights are starting to fill up… quite nicely too :)

Today was spent running around tying up bits of red tape. Don’t you just hate red tape? They tie you up in knots and if you don’t follow the tape you find yourself out of the loop. Sigh… But fortunately I got it done and nicely tied up prettily in um… red tape. :)

I love red shoes, don’t you? ;)

Scrabble-meister!

I’ve been playing Scrabulous which is like an online version of Scrabble and getting badly beaten every single time.

Ok, to be fair, I have beaten Sis a couple of times ;) but overall, I’m the one being sorely beaten black and blue by my playmates. So, yesterday I decided enough was enough. Playing Scrabulous online is all well and good. However, nothing beats the feel of the smooth tiles and being able to arrange your words physically on your tile rack, rather like a word version of Mahjong?

So, I went off to Toys R Us and bought me a set of Travel Scrabble!

I opted for the travel version because the tiles lock in place on the board. It reminded me of the old set I used to have as a kid which locked into the board. Now, the packaging looks totally different and in my mind, less sturdy and refined, but its still a Scrabble set.

So, I hope to hone up my skills and maybe… just maybe… be the one doing the beating the next time round ;) Also, I felt it was time I got off the computer on weekends after spending so much time on it during weekdays. And its been ages since I indulged in board games. A happy medium I guess.

Bubbly bubbly 24!

champagneThere is something unfathomably decadent about having champagne 3 times in 4 days. (It must come with being a spoilt little Princess…) There is also something unfathomably amusing to know that someone isn’t really enjoying it all that much, but will have it anyway just because you are!

And that was how I rounded off my birthday yesterday.

I had an excellent birthday this year. There was a little fly in the ointment a couple of days back, but I’ve picked it out and tossed it out the window. Bygones! There’s more to look forward to and I do plan to look forward :)

The day started out at midnight the night before, actually, with a ping on Gmail from Giddy Tiger wishing me a happy birthday. It was so sweet of her!

The later part of the morning began with a little shopping trip and lunch with a long time friend turned tai-tai at Dragon-i at Midvalley Megamall. Hehe… ;) We lingered so long over lunch, chatting and catching up, that I wonder why the waiters did not physically throw us out of the restaurant! 3 hours is definitely too long a turn around period on any table. Its no wonder they stopped refilling our water cups towards the end. But yes, there was loads to catch up on, and loads to talk about.

gardens

Then, we took a walk through the Gardens at MidValley and pronounced it a clone of the Pavilion. Its fun walking through a mall in the afternoon of a weekday knowing that everyone is supposed to be at work. It actually makes for a more rewarding shopping experience because you don’t have crowds to contend with. Makes me contemplate being a tai-tai too!

Dinner was awesome - dare I say it wasn’t? ;) - with a lovely touch of champagne and a signature tiramisu dessert with a candle stuck in it for good measure. Very sweet - both the dessert and the gesture.

And maybe because Parisian sidewalk cafes are associated with elegant French people sipping their coffee and I love coffee, I received a lovely unexpected gift of a Delonghi coffee maker (whimper… Its so decadent!) which I am still trying to figure out. So, I’ll post a picture once I manage to brew my first cuppa.

I then came home to loads of wonderful birthday wishes from Pink Elle, Giddy Tiger, Tine, LB, May and Rinnah. Thank you all and everyone else who left their wishes! I’ve noted that 3 out of 6 made reference to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and believe me when I say that I’m not as old, as tall, as slender, as heavy nor as aloof as that romantic icon of Paris ;)

Time after time…

What d’ya know… its another slow blog day. So… here’s another filler tag! :)

Rinnah dearie offered me a chance to turn back time. So, she’s gifted me with a time machine, for me to turn some knobs and dials and wish myself back to a better, happier, more stress-free era… perhaps? Why does that make me think of Quantum Leap? I love that series btw… Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula)… aww… ;)

Incidentally, I was chatting with a couple of friends about going back in time, and I actually felt that I’m pretty happy where I am right now at this point in time. I have no real desire to go back in time because life seems good right about now.

However, in the spirit of the tag, I will ask the time machine to take me back to 1996/1997. Lately, I’ve been having many deja vu moments from those years involving things, people and incidents from that time that I cannot recall at all. So, if I can go back in time, I’d like to go back to those years. I actually had a pretty good time right about then so it would be nice to relive those days again. There are also some things I have to look up… ;)

And now, let me hand the time machine over to these tagees to see when they want to go back to:

And that’s it, I’ll stop at 3 :)

I’m at a bit of a blogging loss today. There are many things in my head which I tried to pen down, but a lot of it is too personal for public consumption so I ho and hummed for the whole day and decided to do Rinnah’s tag instead - it was hard although it looked easy :P

5. What was the last thing you said out loud? “Can you plug me in? Thanks.” (I share a printer and we have to manually switch the USB cables)

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavor? Vanilla. I’m serious it really is for the discerning only.

14. What excites you? Many things but at the moment, trying to figure out how to operate my new coffee maker!

15. Do you want to cut your hair? Yes. I am always game for a hair cut even if I just cut my hair a couple of weeks ago.

16. Are you over the age of 25? Its impolite to ask a woman her age… ;)

17. Do you talk a lot? Only with the right people and with the right topics. I can nag…

18. Do you watch the O.C.? No its not my cuppa tea.
