Pablo wrote a nifty little thought provoking post on Blogsreview.net asking us bloggers “Why do you Blog?“. I’d been thinking about it too rather more constantly recently due to that Google PR shake up thing that caused many blogs to have their page rank revised – some for the better, some for the worse.
The thing about that PR thing that got many bloggers hopping mad, is that it nearly only impacts those who try to make a living from their blog, or those who are seeking the extra cash. I was one of those affected, and yes, the income is affected and the opportunities are less. On the up side, I don’t spend as much time on the computer looking for opportunities to grab and I practically stay away from the computer on weekends. But is that why I blog?
Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to write. No two ways about it. I started my blogs because of my love for writing and I’m going to continue, despite the PR revisions and despite not making much shopping money online anymore. At the end of the day, I’m blogging for me and I’ve just renewed my hosting and domains for another year. So yes, there’s at least 1 more year of Paris Beaverbanks around – love it or hate it
What do you hope to achieve by blogging?
For me, it is self-satisfaction and maybe some self-gratification. Blogging is a good outlet for me to express myself and my views here on this site. However, over on My Women Stuff, my goals are more tailored towards public awareness. Not all products work for everyone, but having a real person review it from experience, as opposed to reading a press blurb in the magazines or online does help a person in making up their mind as to whether something is worth purchasing or trying.
On All about Shopping! I hope to highlight good and bad shopping and the benefits and pitfalls of online shopping; and on the Pink Parisian, its all about food – mine and what I eat. The goals maybe different on each site, but taken in sum, its all about self-gratification, in the hope that something you say, no matter how insignificant, could be of help to someone else.
How much time do you spend a day doing blogging related work (as described above)
An hour or two in the day and again at night. Its been reduced significantly since I managed to structure my time better and since the paid opportunities melted away like the snow at the first glimpse of the sun. Also, having a life kinda cramps your blogging time a tad but as everyone pointed out the last time I mentioned this, getting a life is a good thing because it gives you something to blog about! An example is my little dip into haute cuisine and wine at Qba last week. I’d probably have forgotten about the event until it was too late, or missed going altogether. Instead, I now have a review of it (despite it looking terribly sponsored, it was not unless you count the fact that my dinner was technically sponsored, since I did not pay
)
So, these are the reasons why I blog.
And these are the reasons why I will continue to blog.

Now I know your better! Thanks for participating and I will put a couple of nice highlight on your thoughts
Cool reasons to blog.. I know I only blog because there’s interest.
Hear hear! My sentiments exactly.
It’s a fantastic outlet for emotions if not to just simply write away what you fancy
Yes, and when you blog out of interest, it shows! I love the way you write, PB!
Pablo: I can’t wait to see your roundup. It’ll be a good read.
LB: Interest is good enough!
Tine: Yes, writing is cathartic no?
Giddy Tiger: Aww… thank you GT *blush*
Can I invite the nice ladies up there to participate as well
