Wilting….

I’ve had a most eventful weekend but it seems like there can be too much of a good thing.

I went to sleep last night with an itchy throat and a strange intermittent cough.

I woke up this morning with a dull ache behind my eyes and in my head, and the chills. As the day progressed, I felt my outer extremities getting colder. My fingers and toes were chilled to the bone but my body felt warm and I felt my body feeling weird and weak. My throat is feeling dry and I can feel it might be getting inflamed. My nose is starting to feel a bit sniffly.

Everything points to me coming down with something. Its time to pump myself up with vitamin C and loads of fluids. I feel just like those flowers in the vase up in the picture.

Sigh…

Why I want to eat at Friday’s

Remember I wrote in my TGIF Friday post below that its been donkey’s years since I’ve been to a Friday’s? Well, even after that post was written, I have still yet to step foot into a Friday’s. Not for want of trying, but mostly because I’ve been busy stepping out into other restaurants.

And why do I want to eat at Friday’s you ask? Well, the answer’s pretty simple:

  • I haven’t been there in ages… years in fact, and I want to see if its still as good as I remember
  • I remember that their vodka-lime was pretty good
  • I’m a sucker for American sized portions (even if I can’t finish them) and I trust it could be better than Tony Roma’s which I had at CineLeisure and which was underwhelming.
  • I want to have the Devilishly Good Menu - deep fried, cheesey, creamy, chocolatey goodness - yum! Do they give out those funky red Devil horns? I want! :)
  • Because GiddyTiger makes their food look so good *drools*

I thought of hitting a Friday’s today to satisfy the urge (you know, its like an itch that really bugs you) but as luck would have it I’m indulging at a gourmet wine-pairing dinner instead! Wooh! :)

And thus ends another Friday edition of Paris Beaverbanks - have a good weekend all!

SSSSssssmokin!

Blog buddy Giddy Tigers passed this tag onto me. I have to give the first word that pops into my mind starting with the first letter of my name. Um… problem is, I have about 4 different names depending on who knows me so… no, I’m not going to do it 4 times! I’ll just choose the letter of the name most people know me by and by which I go by most commonly in real life.

Much as I’d like to be pretentious and be called Paris in real life, no one does because its not my name lah… Although being called a “Princess” comes close. After all, it starts with the letter “P” too! ;) But never the mind, “S” it is!

Here’s how it works:
Use the first letter of your name to answer each question. Must be places, names…Nothing made up. Can’t use own name for boy/girl’s name question. If can’t answer, skip to next one.

So hard one the instructions… :P but here goes nothing:-

1. Famous Singer: Sting
2. Four Letter Word: Um… seriously? Shop!
3. Street: Street ;)
4. Colour: Sapphire
5. Gifts/Present: Sapphires ;)
6. Vehicle: SUV
7. Things in Souvenir Shop: Sorely overpriced
8. Boy Name: Simon
9. Girl Name: Susie
10. Movie title: Serendipity
11. Drink: Strong (preferably)

12. Occupation: Shopper
13. Celebrity: Stars!
14. Magazine: Smash Hits (throwback to the past)
15. U.S. City: Salt Lake City
16. Pro Sports: Skiing
17. Fruit: Strawberries (especially with champagne!)
18. Reason for Being Late to work: Slept (over slept that is)
19. Something you throw away: Scraps
20. Something you shout: S&*!
21. Cartoon Character: Scooby dooby do!

And will they do this for me?

Wuching
Simple America

Pretty please with a strawberry and champagne? ;)

No! We do not need to buy the Soyuz

We DO NOT need a space shuttle for the sake of having a souvenir of our first trip into space. Note I use the word “trip” in its literal manner.

We DO NOT  need a space shuttle just to have a decorative tribute to our first trip into space.

We DO NOT need to spend the public’s money on a redundancy. Face facts. We will never launch the shuttle. Its just for show. And in 5 years, it’ll be a rusting memory thrown on some junk heap or stolen and melted down for its metal.

We DO NOT need a space shuttle to remind us that our first man in space likened the experience to that of being “Superman”. Neil Armstrong gave us the immortal words “One small step for man, a giant leap for mankind” and what we have for posterity from our “angkasawan” is the comment that he was flying like Superman.

We DO NOT need to help fund the Russian’s space programme by paying them for the used shuttle. Why not channel the money into building our own space programme?!

Spend the money on something else more beneficial to the people of Malaysia.

Feed the poor.

Shelter the needy.

Protect our women and children.

Wake up. Grow up.

Grrrr…….

Run Walk Crawl…

As I complained below, I was dragged out of my warm bed early on a Sunday morning, to participate in the Terry Fox Run. Cunningly, sis not only got me to buy the T-shirt for charity, she even stayed over at my place to make sure I’d get up and go instead of just snuggling further down into my duvet!

We thought we’d be kiasu and go early. The event was due to begin at 8.30am so we thought getting there by 7.30am would serve us well to get us car parks. Boy were we wrong! The parks were full by the time we got there, and it was only by a stroke of luck that we got any parking at all!

point

Yes, thats my rather pale hand pointing at the start and end point of the run. They were only just inflating the plastic arch when we got there, and the people you see are only the tip of the iceberg. More pictures will be found over on Pink Elle when she deigns to write about this.

As I was standing around, eating free bananas and drinking sponsored water (You know, people don’t think twice about taking or eating sponsored stuff, why are sponsored posts on blogs bad?! But anyway…) and trying to pay attention to sis who was yelling at me to warm up, I noticed something a foot.

shoe

This is what happens to your sneakers when you fail to use them regularly. The glue holding the base to the sole must have hardened and dried, for it was flapping away as I walked! This tells you just how often I exercise (not often at all) and how often I wear this pair of shoes (not since I trudged around Ayers Rock/Uluru 3 years or so ago). So, after getting irritated with the incessant flapping, I took the bit by the teeth and pulled off the whole bottom layer. Fortunately, there was some sort of grip on the sole so it was ok to walk on. I will need to get it glued back at some point in my life though. :P

So, the rest of it as they say is history. I walked, I completed the course (the easy one) and I had ice cold milo and muffins after that. We did not see Kennysia though sis was keeping an eye out for him, but we did see loads and loads of other people. The crowd turn out was amazing and it was heartening to see that most people were in the official T-shirts which means that most people did their part for charity! Hurrah for everyone who participated!

Pink Elle will put up more pictures (I hope) because it was her camera after all :)

And finally, a picture of Paris Beaverbanks:

Hey! All I promised was a picture, I never said I was going to show my face ;) This is my terrorist militia impression although I also did an impression of Lawrence of Arabia:

And I just noticed the fella in the back of the picture, standing on the right. He has his hands over his face. He must be terribly shy too!
