Twit-a-cough-phone-twit

My cough has turned from a dry chesty cough to something more sporadic but my nasal passages still feel dry and my taste buds are still dead. Is there anything worse than not having any taste-buds? Its no wonder I seem to have lost some weight - food just doesn’t seem as appetizing when you can’t smell nor taste them.

What I’ve been indulging in, in my last ditch attempt to remove the last remaining vestiges of a lingering cough is taking Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa and making lo han guo drinks at home. For the latter, I’d used to make it with sweetened wintermelon slices before, but I recently tried it with the fresh wintermelon and dried longans - yummy! They do help with a cough, so its all good!

What’s with the rainy weather lately? All it does is make me want to curl up in bed and continue sleeping in the mornings. It rained all day yesterday and today doesn’t seem any better. Its even brought the floods to Johor already - repeat of last year?

I’ve been looking around for my new phone. I looked at Nokia but somehow, felt underwhelmed, sorry all Nokia fans. I even looked at the N73, GT because you loved it so, but somehow, it didn’t grab my fancy. I was happy looking at the N95 though but thats seriously seriously out of budget. :P

The ones that did grab my attention, were strangely enough by Sony Ericsson. Yes, despite my grouses with SE, it looks like I might be going back to them. The K800i is an older model but the reviews for it are awesome. How’s the joystick though? Does anyone experience trouble with it? I’d read many reviews which claim that that’s its weak point.

I played around with the new K770i too, but the reviews for it are blah so I’m going to pass on it. It looks good, its really slim and it fits what I’m looking for, but apparently the camera isn’t all that good and most users were disappointed with it. Not good then, I think. Another one that I saw was the K530i. Any thoughts on that?

Then of course, there are the Samsung phones which I haven’t gone to see yet.

I’d be getting 2 phones so, I know I’m going to have better bargaining power in terms of price and freebies. I hope to actually get one before the year is out! More recs! More recs! Confuse me, yes? :) *cough* *cough*

All I want for Christmas

I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There’s just one thing I need
I don’t care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is…
You

Tee-hee… I only put that in there because I love this Christmas song by Mariah Carey. But conversely, I do care about the presents under the Christmas tree! The more the merrier ;)

But GT what I really really really want for Christmas, with whipped cream and a fresh plump morello cherry on top (none of those nasty pickled cough mixture tasting cherries thank you!) and maybe some chocolate rice sprinkles, oh and some maple syrup and.. and…

… what I really really really want for Christmas…

IS TO HAVE MY HEALTH BACK GOSHDARNIT!!

I want my voice back.

I want to indulge in goodies.

I want to taste my food again.

I’m tired of being sick. It makes me crabby.

What do you want for Christmas, May?

Hunting treasure and curing coughs

The silence on the PB front can be attributed to 2 events:

  • the fact I’m as sick as a dog; and
  • the fact I was in Penang over the weekend for my first ever treasure hunt

I’ve been nursing a very bad cough since last week, which put me very much under the weather. There is nothing worse than nursing a cough especially when it wakes you up at night in a coughing fit, and your body is going hot-cold-hot-cold from the fever and chills. I’ve been wracked by intermittent fevers for days and it is only today that I am feeling relatively fever-free.

However, a new development has manifested - my ears feel blocked. I’ve been feeling it since yesterday but thought it might have to do with the travelling I was doing. But today, I’m sure it isn’t and I’m worried that though my sore throat is gone, its infected my ears. It might explain the slightly unsettled feeling I have too. So, I’m off to the doctor later today to get my ears checked, and to see if anything can be done about my hoarse voice. At the moment, I’m slightly deaf and my voice is at a husky sexy barely-above-a-whisper. Sigh…

*********

As for the Penang Food Hunt, it was awesome. It was my first ever treasure hunt, and I loved every single crazy minute of it! I opted to be the driver which was no mean feat seeing as I’m not familiar with Penang roads at all, and was running a fever at the time. I’m glad I chose to drive though because having the adrenaline course through the veins must have helped break the fever because it did make me feel better.

The Giddy Tigress was of great help too because she helped give me an idea of how to get to New World Park hawker centre where we were to meet up after the first leg of our journey. I’d just been driving all over the island, from Balik Pulau and then back into Georgetown, and it was no mean feat to eventually pull in at the hawker centre!

The next leg introduced me to the concept of “tulips” - directions we had to follow and clues we had to find answers to. We later found out that we did pretty well in this leg, finding most of the correct answers, but we did not win anything :( Maybe we were placed No. 26th because prizes were only given out until No. 25. ;) We did end up getting a little bit lost towards the end, but some nifty drives down side lanes and a ‘never-say-die’ attitude saw us getting back right on track, and completing the course right on time! Kudos to an excellent navigator!

The fun thing about this trip is that I now have an idea of how to get to places around Penang Island, and I have an idea of where to find good food to eat in Penang! :) I cannot wait to go on another treasure hunt - maybe the next time I’ll even win something!
