Things brothers say

I was out at the evil place called Isetan (the irony of the name!) while waiting for various people in the family to have their hair cut, and my eye was caught by a pair of darling quilted flats. I have a problem buying flats because I’m short and its hard to find a pair of flats that don’t make me look even shorter. Again, thats an ironic statement.

But anyhows, I find a cute comfy quilted leather pair with patent shiny toes and a darling little bow, that doesn’t make me look short. The black was very nice but did not have my size. So, I opted for a bright red pair which goes exceedingly well with jeans (and a matching red bag perhaps?) Best of all, a 50% discount sweetened the deal further.

And then my brother comes over, watches as I pay for the shoes and says “So, you got your Dorothy slippers then?”

Sigh…

We all scream for Ice Cream!

Look what came in the mail today?

My own New Zealand Natural (NZN) Ice Cream loyalty card!! I’m not much of an ice cream fan but I do like sorbets and I see that NZN does sorbets too! Woohoo!

NZN has a current promotion of 30% off on the 30th of every month which is so much better than Baskin Robbins’ since you get a 30th in every month (except February - but after all that CNY feasting who can put away more ice cream eh?) Since the New Zealand Natural Expressions Card gives me 10% off New Zealand Natural ice cream on normal days and points to collect to redeem for more ice cream, I’m starting to think that I’m going to need the gym more often from now on!

So, guess who’s having ice cream for dessert tonight! Woohoo! Thanks for your rec Beetrice!

FIVE Golden Ringsss…..

Hands up how many people sang the title in your heads (or out loud) :)

Bit early for Christmas carols to come a wassailing again eh? But Rinnah tagged me and I’m on a slow post day. I mean I could write some nasty things about eating cili padi and getting your tongue burnt; and some irritating people who tell you one thing and get you all hyped up then realise belatedly that they can’t go through with it… but no. Thou shalt not. So here we are, fluffy as a bunny we are. Hoppity-hop! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Name 1 thing you do everyday:

I take a long hot shower to wash off the grime of the day - physically and mentally.

Name 2 things you wish you could learn:

Belly dance and French. Paris might be the name, but je ne parlez Francois! and I have 2 left feet. Arguably all you really need is the belly no? :D

Name 3 things that remind you of your childhood:

  1. “Money pia” - what my late grandma would call Marie Biscuits that you get by weight from the local sundry shop
  2. Playing “catching” or what in staid English would be “It” - not half as much fun as saying “Eh! Want to play catching or not?”
  3. The cries of “Roti! Roti” in the evening by the roti man (bread seller who comes around in a tricycle cart dinging his little bell).

Name 4 things you love to eat but rarely do:

  1. Keropok - crackers
  2. Kerepek - um… crackers
  3. Asam Fish - too far from good ones
  4. Nasi Briyani Gam - hard to find good ones and fattening!

Name 5 things that make you feel good:

  1. A nice hot shower after a long tiring day
  2. Being able to hold a yoga pose without falling over
  3. Compliments
  4. A Haircut
  5. Getting an item I really want at an excellent price during a sale

And now, its over to a new friend to tell us in her expat wife way, 5 things about her! Over to you! ;)

Random thought of the day #6

samsung mp3

You know you are increasingly left behind in the gadgets race when…

… your DAD proudly shows you his brand new Samsung U3 Touch Pad MP3 player with 2G memory!

Damn! I don’t even own an MP3 player!

Cheep cheap…. its Easter…

Another lame title but I was up till 4am last night - four ay am!! Pukul Empat Pagi!!

And no, I wasn’t out clubbing or having fun, I was WORKING goshdarnit! And I was hungry! At four ay am! We were actually thinking of hitting up a 24 hour McDonalds just to satisfy my curiousity.

Who goes to McDonalds at 4am?” I have often asked. I was about to get my answer but there was no McDs near my place. Boo!

Anyway, mushy brains aside, I went for some unexpected shopping yesterday and picked me up a wonderful deal - 2 pairs of shoes for less than RM230 at Marks and Spencer!

Its the Marks & Spencer sale on at the moment and I know that M&S aren’t exactly shoemakers of the year, but I could not resist the cute peep toes in a metallic taupe leather for RM150. They were adorable and fit like a charm. Besides there was only one there in my size - Size 4! Woot!

And as providence would have it, there was only 1 pair of suede ankle boots to fit my size 4 feet too!! They were originally priced for RM349 and were discounted to RM139. I thought it was a best buy item because of the different colored sticker but when I went to pay for them, I got 50% off! Suede ankle boots for under RM70?! Where to find?!

I’ve never owned a pair of ankle boots - I never could see the point but they look awesome with pants/jeans and who can resist that cute little bow at the back eh?

I just read on Eye For Everything that my favourite writer Terry Pratchett has Alzheimers Disease. No!! He’s so witty and funny!! Now I’m even more determined to make sure I have the whole collection of Pratchett’s books!

For a sample of his humor go read his letter to the Alzheimer’s Trust. It had me giggling even though I was feeling upset. And in an effort to Match it For Pratchett you can buy a T-shirt to help donate towards Alzheimer’s research. Its got a picture of the Discworld on it so what’s there not to like? What is the Discworld? Erm… time to pick up a Pratchett novel and lose yourself in it!

Finally, its Good Friday! And that means Sunday is Easter Sunday! And that means Hot Cross Buns, Chocolate Eggs and Chocolate Easter Bunnies!

I’m sorry, I’m pagan :P

To all celebrating the rebirth of Christ, I wish you a Blessed Easter; and to all celebrating with chocolate eggs, bunnies and hot cross buns, I wish you Happy Easter too!
