Hello Kitty, Malaysia gets a new cabinet!

Lame silly title :P

First off. We have a new cabinet - do we wave flags and shout hurrah?

Go read the official list of ministers and deputy ministers in the new 2008 Malaysian cabinet. Faces noticably missing are: Rafidah Aziz (surprise!), Ong Ka Ting (brothers don’t count) and Samy Vellu (but of course!). Sons in law too have gone undercover and the post of parliamentary secretaries are scrapped. Not enough BN MPs to populate the cabinet maybe? hehe…

Faces that appeared out of the blue are: Zaid Ibrahim and Muhammad Taib, both of whom did not even stand in the past elections. I think its fitting that Muhammad Taib is Rural and Regional Development Minister. After all, he embarrassingly failed an English test in Australia didn’t he? *snigger*

So that’s the new cabinet.

And here’s the reason for the wide smile on my face this morning when I got into work.

A Hello Kitty Mobile! How perfect if it was pink!

My favourite Hello Kitty accessory for this car however, is the bit I highlighted in yellow and enlarged - a Hello Kitty exhaust pipe! All together now - “Aiyo! So cute!

What a cheery start to the morning. I was actually thankful for the jam so I could snap this picture! hehe…

Lets Drive the New Toyota Corolla Altis 2008

I’m a bit of a car maniac. I like cars, in a manner of speaking, and when I got wind of the new Toyota Altis 2008 last year I’ve been like a cat on hot bricks waiting for it to debut here in Malaysia. What sold me was the look of the exterior. From the pictures, it was looking like a mini Toyota Camry! And the Camry is my affordable dream car. We don’t talk about luxury cars in the same breath yes?

So, this last weekend, after going with sis to a wedding workshop (!) I headed over to the nearest Toyota Showroom for cakes, tea and the new Toyota Altis 2008! If you want the full specs and technical review, head over to Paul Tan. If you want a girly point of view, then keep reading ;)

Suspended and fed to the fishes at Kenko Fish Spa - Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Ah! Here’s my explanation for the silence on the blog front:

Guess who got their Streamyx account suspended for not paying their phone bill? *sheepish grin* Amazing how quickly TM reacts when we don’t pay our bills but how slowly they react otherwise.

Anyway, I happened to be around Pavilion Shopping Centre last night and I remembered sis telling me about her experience at Kenko Fish Spa. Kenko Fish Spa, for the uninitiated, is a place where you can go and feed your dead skin cells to Garra Rufa fish or “doctor fish”. The experience is, in a word - unique. In 2 words, it is unique & ticklish!

Kenko Fish Spa (Its actually called Kenko Foot Reflexology and Fish Spa) is located at the Pavilion Shopping Centre on the 5th Floor. Head for the GSC Cinema and you’ll see it. Its not in the main building you see but sort of in an annexe.

It costs RM38 for a 30 minute session. First of all, wash your feet thoroughly. No lotions, no medications, no open wounds allowed. You don’t want to kill the fishies! Then, head for the pool area. There are 2 pools, the outer ring with larger fishes and the inner ring with smaller fishes in warm water.

I started with the inner ring and OMG! Did you see the feeding frenzy up there?! Yep! That’s my feet (actually there are 2 sets of feet) and those are the garra rufa fish going nuts nibbling away at the dead skin on my feet. I did not even know I had that much dead skin!! The sensation is ticklish and quite geli but you get used to it after a while. Its not painful, but you definitely feel the fish pecking away at your skin.

After a spell, I headed over to where the larger fish were. Maybe they were full - fed by so many people, but my feet “tak laku” lah… so I headed back to the smaller tank purely for ego purposes you understand. How can my feet be so unpopular?! :P

After 30 minutes of feeding the fishes, ta-da! Feet as smooth as a baby’s bottom! You can’t put your fingers in the water - pity because I’d have liked to have smooth hands too. The people at the counter said there is a new treatment for the whole body. Your whole body fed to the fishes? *shudder* And yet… I’m intrigued…

The fish spa is supposed to be good for those with skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. Apparently, it helps the skin condition because the fish clear away the dead skin and allow new skin to grow. Its not cheap but its definitely worth the experience so I’ll be back to feed more fish. And that whole body thing is really calling out to me…

Have a good weekend, all!

Paris Beaverbanks is 1 year old!

one

I’m 1 year old today!

There is no significance to March 12th except that it was the day I decided to launch www.parisbeaverbanks.com (without even thinking of a significant date - silly me!)

Thank you to everyone who has stayed with me the past 365 days and to everyone else who has joined in my year long blogging journey.

Looking back on the past 365 days, I can safely say my priorities have certainly changed from what was a shameless endeavor to make as much money as I possibly can from a dotcom, to caring about this little home of mine that is open for worldwide scrutiny. I’m most appreciative of those of you who have continued reading my site and leaving comments even during my early period of peppering as many mind-numbing sponsored posts as I could into my blog. Thank you!

Here’s to another 365 days and may the fluff continue going somewhere! :D

Too much to say…

… too little time or space to say it all and the wrong platform for me :P

I’m still all caught up in Election fever and I can’t think of anything else I might want to bitch about so maybe its better I just don’t. I’m not super happy with the results and neither am I super depressed. I’m just waiting to see what will happen now (and when the posters and banners eyesore will be removed).

Will there be a change in leadership? Not bloody likely.

Will there be a drastic change in Parliament? Not likely.

Will brothers, sons, sons in law be given a leg up into the cabinet? Highly likely.

Will leaders of component parties take responsibility for the crushing defeat ala Koh? Dream on!

Will there be civil unrest? I’m not risking being put in jail!

Does life go on? Yeah.

I’m just finding it highly amusing that I will be living in an “opposition” area and that when I travel up North it will be “opposition” held states all the way. But they aren’t really “opposition” anymore are they? They are the ruling state government. Takes some getting used to not calling them the “opposition”. But what does one call them then?

Oh and then, there’s news of Zakaria’s death of a heart attack. Shock? Horror? Weak heart? If this was America, I’d place my bets on a conspiracy theory of a faked death. But I guess in the end, everyone gets their just desserts and its all in the hands of God now to judge him as He sees fit. Some things are just not for men to judge eh?

And I think the pakcik in my strange twilight zone picture was indeed swayed … in the opposite direction.
