May 22nd, 2008 — Money, Ramblings
I received a cheque yesterday for an affiliate program I had forgotten about. Apparently, I’d earned a little bit of extra cash from Linkshare and they had sent me a cheque.
All good so far?
Money in hand is always good, yes? Especially USD with the strengthening USD against the RM now.
When I opened the envelope I could not help laughing at the amount. Look how much I got!

May 19th, 2008 — Fun & Amusements, Observations, Reviews

I think I’d better catch up with some unfinished business before I get scalped
The title of the post may say “Breakfast at Tiffanys” but in fact, it was dinner or rather hor d’oeuvres at Tiffanys.

The Giddy Tigeress gifted me with the gift of FIVE wrapped up in Tiffany Blue and wrapped in signature Tiffany bow style!
Doesn’t it look pretty? Actually the Tiffany thing is another story which I’ll regale you with another day.
Anyway, I was gifted with five questions I must answer on a Friday after I receive this gift. So what d’ya know? Its a Friday today (albeit late in the evening but still Friday!) and here are my 5 answers.
1. To watch or participate?
In what?
Sometimes I watch, sometimes I participate. Mostly, I watch THEN participate once I know the rules of course. Call it pride but I hate making a fool of myself.
2. Malls, catalog shopping, or the Internet?
I can’t answer this one with just one. C’est non possible! I mean, here I am, writing beauty reviews and shopping deals so just being limited to one is like taking me to a buffet and telling me I can only have the salad leaves! But if I truly can only have one, I’d say malls. I like seeing things in person and testing them out in real life. Catalog shopping intrigues me, but I’ve never bought anything from a catalog (unless you could online catalogs). Internet shopping is awesome because I get to buy stuff I can only dream about otherwise, which I restrict to non clothes and shoes. But for practical purposes, I’d still have to say the mall - that way I know it fits!
3. A bath or shower?
Shower. I like the feel of the water and besides, having a shower uses 1/5 of the water needed to run a bath so that makes me environmentally friendly right?! However, nothing beats a warm bubble bath scented with aromatherapy oils and flower petals for a relaxing soak guaranteed to ease away the strains of the day. Ahh…. I wish I had a bath… I need to relax!
4. To talk to people by telephone, in person or by e-mail?
This depends on the level of comfort I feel with a person. I like email for the edit factor, but I’ve found that its impractical and not usually the best form of communication with people because nuances are lost and you have to depend on emoticons
etc to get your message across correctly. At least over the phone or in real life you can gauge a person’s response and reactions.
5. Typing or writing?
I’m faster at typing for everyday but I still like hand writing messages or cards. In this generic impersonal world, the personal touch is still best.
Gosh! Looking at those answers, I never did give just one answer did I?
And with this, I tag thee:-
I’ll be watching out for your answers next Friday y’all!
Its the long weekend, with Wesak Day on Monday. I’ll be catching up on sleep and house chores and the dreaded ironing. I have to. I have no more clothes left for work!
Hope you have a weekend that’s more fun than mine!

There’s a new movie coming into town and I, the kiasu one am up there with the best of them, fishing for free tickets to attend the premier and formal dinner at JW Marriot. The movie is Made of Honour that stars Patrick Dempsey aka McDreamy of Grey’s Anatomy. Let it be known now that he never appealed to me in Grey’s (when I watched it).

Reading the synopsis, I reckon this is a typical chick flick - boy and girl are best friends, girl gets married, boy suddenly realises he loves her, boy tries to sabotage the wedding… doesn’t it sound like My Best Friend’s Wedding with roles reversed? At least in My Best Friend’s Wedding, there was the droolicious Rupert Everett (never mind that he’s gay) to provide the eye candy. I’m not quite sure that Patrick Dempsey will do it for me.
All that aside, Nuffnang is offering free tickets for anyone who plays the Flip Flop Fishing game and gets the highest scores. Not only free tickets but the whole “wedding dinner” works with bagpipes (?!?!) and a full 8 course dinner at JW Marriott where diners are required to dress formally. I have a gown hanging in my cupboard that I know will do perfectly for the occasion and it needs some airing
So, here is my highest score. I know it isn’t all that high, but its the best I can do seeing as I’m approaching busy times ahead with no time to play fishing games in sight.

Now the clincher is this - I am going to be maid of honour at my sister’s wedding. I have no idea what maids of honour do except hold the bride’s flowers - haha! - so, yes an expedition to the movies with the dinner, dress and the works will do the trick nicely!
I hope this fishing expedition brings in the big one! Moby Dick here I come!

I was stuck with a 6 hour wait yesterday. I wasn’t travelling and it was work - don’t ask
Anyway, it was a very very boring 6 hour wait and given paper and a pen, I ended up with these:-

It started innocently enough with some doodling about 2 hours into the wait. And I don’t know what possessed me but it evolved into ducks and birds and any number of creatures thereafter (if you can recognize them, that is). Another 2 hours later, and my wild side was showing:-

ROFLOL! The mountain at the top probably represents my secret wish to visit Japan and the pig with the party hat probably is my hidden wish to throw a party LOL…. Subliminal messages indeed….
I’m no artist as you’d probably guess by now. Yet another hour and a red pen later, many animals were wearing strange and puzzled expressions with exclamation marks and question marks over their heads.
Oh and I don’t know if anyone watches the Disney channel. If you have kids and the Disney channel you’d have seen the segment called “Spot the Hidden Mickey” at some point. You see, apparently all Disney cartoons or even shows have a “Hidden Mickey” somewhere. It could be in the spots on the back of a dog or a puddle on the floor… anything that forms the 3 circles that make up the Mickey logo.
Well, in the midst of my doodling, I suddenly spotted a Hidden Mickey on the table!

Did you spot the Hidden Mickey?
Let’s try this again……

Too free? Yes!
