Thinking of you in the Summertime…

When I first read that NKOTB was reuniting I was taken by surprise. Their breakup was quite big news at the time, mainly because they were THE BOY BAND of the period. Pop music epitomized.

Because I listen to the car radio to and from work, I found myself bopping along (isn’t that so 90’s? Bopping along) to a catchy bubblegum pop tune on the radio about summer time and la-di-da… I had no idea who it was by of course because I have a short attention span :P

It was only one day, when I actually heard the radio announcers announce the song and group behind it, that I found myself opening my eyes wide in surprise. (Fortunately my car was parked so there was no sudden braking on the highway). The group was NKOTB and the song was Summertime.

Video after the jump so if you want more.

Summertime’s a cute song; its a cheesy pop song and it does make you think of lazy summer days in the golden sunlight. Its not a memorable song - I can’t remember any of the words nor the whole tune, but its catchy and it brings back memories of NKOTB circa 1990 - I’ll be loving you (forever). As far as bubblegum pop goes, I don’t think you can beat it, so sit back and enjoy the video of Summertime - the debut single by NKOTB Reunited. Life’s getting too serious as it is :)

I love the beginning of the video and one or two of the boys (men) still made my heart skip a beat - and its not Jordan or Joe! roflol!

p/s Bet you didn’t know Joey McIntyre is married and a Daddy! Joey? Baby Joey Mac? Yeah I was surprised too!

p/p/s I had to really laugh out loud at the end of the video - classic NKOTB at its best. See Hangin’ Tough below for a blast from the past - Nostalgia doesn’t get better than this! :D

p/p/p/s I cannot believe I got most of the voices matched to the right people. I was bigger fan than I thought huh? ;)

Hey, Bapa Papan looks good! LOL I always felt sorry for him bec all the teen girls liked the other boys. Maybe those teen girls have grown up now and will be able to appreciate him more.

I’ve just swtiched to Mozilla and all the vid bits are showing up as blanks with an appeal for me to download the plugin. I’ve just been hit by a plethora of viruses so I’ll think about it for a bit more before I download stuff. I don’t listen to radio here in Jkt because I tak paham their lingo, so I’m looking fwd to getting home and tuning in for this!

That is so cute. I will look for the song. I thought they would have matured in their choice of lyrics and music.

I guess 90s is REALLY back. Complete with the cheesiness and weird hat and the boy bands.

I saw, I saw! Vid came out on MTV just five min ago! I’m here, writing out emails and I was vaguely aware of this catchy, summery tune on the telly. Suddenly I caught the words “Thinkin’ of you in the summertime…” and I jumped up!

It’s such a nice, melodious pop song that reminds me of another hit from some years back… I’ve forgotten the title but it has the line “I like girls who wear Abercrombie and Fitch” in it and some reference to NKOTB in it.

Go check out Donnie’s good friend Nasri. He was the reason they got back together. he wrote most of ther new songs. You can even hear his voice on the chorus of “summertime” and he sings the second half of “click click click”
    Check him @ myspace.com/nasriworld.
