Overheard at the movies…

by ParisB on July 18, 2008

Imagine a dark cold cinema. The huge cavernous hall is silent while everyone watches the big screen in anticipation of the movie starting.

The movie trailers and ads play across the screen.

One ad for a local jeweller flashes on the huge screen to fading music – “POH KONG” .

A silence falls in the aftermath.

A little boy’s voice pipes up from the rear – loud and clear in the silence.

“Poh Kong?! That must be King Kong’s cousin!”

Cinema erupts in laughter.

********

That opened the scene to Kung Fu Panda for me.

And although it was an excellent animation, it did not bring the tears of laughter to my eyes the same way the little boy did right before the show started.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Children say the funniest things. So unpretentious, and innocent.
