Overheard at the movies…

Imagine a dark cold cinema. The huge cavernous hall is silent while everyone watches the big screen in anticipation of the movie starting.

The movie trailers and ads play across the screen.

One ad for a local jeweller flashes on the huge screen to fading music - “POH KONG” .

A silence falls in the aftermath.

A little boy’s voice pipes up from the rear - loud and clear in the silence.

“Poh Kong?! That must be King Kong’s cousin!”

Cinema erupts in laughter.

********

That opened the scene to Kung Fu Panda for me.

And although it was an excellent animation, it did not bring the tears of laughter to my eyes the same way the little boy did right before the show started.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Finally!

Finally …

… Anwar’s arrested right outside his home. Did we see that coming? Well, maybe, but not in this dramatic fashion.

… the Police have realised that roadblocks can be made the norm (anyone in KL caught unawares this morning? Crazy $%*# I wasn’t but a friend was - ack!)

… I read about the fuel debate which I was forced to miss due to it being televised live ONLY on TV9 (which I cannot watch for unknown reasons but which I don’t miss for many known reasons e.g. Spongebob Squarepants in Malay - horrors!!!)

… I realise that one does not play with strange wordpress themes when there is one that is already working fine for you.

… I upgraded a couple of sites to the latest Wordpress 2.6 but am too chicken to upgrade some other sites. I also happen to dislike the interface of Wordpress 2.5 (of which 2.6 is similar) so am delaying upgrading for a bit. In the end, I guess we all have to bow to the powers that be and upgrade for our own good.

… my kitchen remodel is DONE! I spent the day at home (again!) yesterday watching the contractor finish up the bits and pieces that makes my kitchen complete.

Here’s the kitchen in all its new glory.

Well, not all of it. For some reason I did not take pictures of other parts of the kitchen. I think they were too shy to be featured and I could not possibly turn everything into Lawrence of Arabia lookalikes ;)

I love love love my new oven! It was what started the whole kitchen remodel - because I got into baking and needed a decent oven.

Now, I have loads of space to store all my crockery and containers and pots and pans and bits and bobs … and I was at a loss! I had no idea where to put what yesterday and so, gave up in the end.

The cupboards are still bare… but not for very much longer methinks because I also got me some nice chic crockery at a steal recently. Oooh! I can’t wait to play with my new oven! :D

Thinking of you in the Summertime…

When I first read that NKOTB was reuniting I was taken by surprise. Their breakup was quite big news at the time, mainly because they were THE BOY BAND of the period. Pop music epitomized.

Because I listen to the car radio to and from work, I found myself bopping along (isn’t that so 90’s? Bopping along) to a catchy bubblegum pop tune on the radio about summer time and la-di-da… I had no idea who it was by of course because I have a short attention span :P

It was only one day, when I actually heard the radio announcers announce the song and group behind it, that I found myself opening my eyes wide in surprise. (Fortunately my car was parked so there was no sudden braking on the highway). The group was NKOTB and the song was Summertime.

No Limits - Malaysia’s First Pop Musical!

I missed this week’s Photo Hunt (boo!) mainly because I did not have the time to take any pictures with this theme. Blame also the fact I was stuck at home watching over contractors like a hawk (didn’t help - they have to return one more day… sigh)

That said, Friday night saw me at KLCCC Plenary Hall catching a free preview performance of Malaysia’s first ever Pop MusicalPop Sci-fi Musical - No Limits.

I actually met Beetrice there which was a surprise to both her and me. Pleasant of course! Unfortunately it is a short run 11-13 July only but if you are at a loose end tonight, why not pop by and watch it? Its pretty good and fun which is important to me. Continue reading →

High on fumes

Apologies for the silence. I’m now sitting at home, glowering at contractors who tell you one thing one day and do another the next.

I’m having my kitchen remodelled - adding in some cabinets and installing an oven so I can partake in more baking disasters… nay, triumphs! … and my contractor is driving me nuts.

What was a one day job is now on Day #2 and the glue fumes permeate thoughout the house while I sit here taking it all in. Can’t leave because I live here and have my things all over the place.

They have promised it will be done by today. It’d better or I’d have a lot of things to say!

Tip for new house owners: Do up your house to your satisfaction BEFORE you move in. Once you move in, it’s hell! Unfortunately for me, my house is always a work-in-progress because I do up bits and pieces as and when the funds allow me to. Sigh…
