Mamma Mia! I have a Dream!

Mamma Mia

When Mamma Mia! opened in London and then worldwide, guess who missed it? Even when I had the chance to go back to London guess who opted to watch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat instead? *slaps self*

But remember? I said dream it and it will happen right? Anyone watched Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner? “If you dream it they will come” Mystical. And so, I dreamed it. For many many years. I dreamed that Mamma Mia! the Musical will come to Malaysian shores…

And what d’ya know? Its 2008 and Mamma Mia! is here! Well ok, its the movie version with Meryl Streep and the droolicious (but aging) Pierce Brosnon but hey! Its got ABBA songs and that m’dears is what Mamma Mia! is all about!

Mamma Mia Movie Poster

I grew up on a veritable diet of ABBA so it is natural that I enjoy the cheesy disco style Eurovision kitch music that ABBA dishes up. Its not to say that they aren’t good. Their songs are memorable and the tunes catchy. Whoever thought that Sweden had it in them to give us the biggest pop hit wonders since Ikea?! Well, Ikea isn’t a pop hit wonder but its Swedish :P

I wanna see this movie. I missed the musical doesn’t mean I gotta miss the movie right? The last movie I saw with ABBA songs in them was Muriel’s Wedding. Anyone remember this ozzie flick? The scene with Dancing Queen is quite surreal but then so was the whole movie.

So, Voulez-vous! I have a Dream and I am no Dancing Queen but Take a Chance on Me and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! the tickets to Mamma Mia! already Fernando! I am a Super Trouper and Money Money Money no object for if I don’t catch this one it will be my Waterloo!

Whee!

Ahahaha… I especially like that last paragraph with all the song titles inter-woven.

I’m planning to watch this one too, but for Colin Firth instead! LOL.

Hahaha, great last paragraph ;)

I loved the movie. Incredibly cheesy, but brilliant music. Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan in the same movie? Someone say yummylicious! :p

Hi… I came across your blog when google-ing about Epi-LASIK. Noticed you did yours in 2006. How is your vision now if you dont mind giving an update? I’ve been contemplating to do it, and my power is high too (1000+) and Doctor suggested Epi-LASIK. I planned to do it at the same center you did yours. Hope to hear from you! Thanks!!

I was fortunate enough to catch the broadway show a few years back. It was fantastic! The movie comes very close to it too as they’re both directed by the same guy.
Went to watch the movie last weekend, it’s amazing to see Meryl Streep sing so well. What can’t that woman do?! I love her even more now.
