Akismet is broken

by ParisB on August 28, 2008

On my version of Wordpress that is. I’m still on 2.6 because Fantastico hasn’t put up the latest 2.6.1 for my idiot-proof one click upgrade :P

That said, I got an annoying notification that Akismet needed upgrading to 2.1.7 and when I did, I could not “Delete All” my spam. All I get is the page refreshing but the spam is still there taking up space in my database.

Not being able to “Delete All” is even more annoying than seeing that plugin upgrade balloon reminder, so downgraded back to my previous version of Akismet and hope someone fixes this bug soon.

Anyone has this problem or has a fix for it?

gosh I’m still on WP 2.2.1… not upgrading until it’s a life and death situation! (death of my blog, that is…)

Hi Paris, If you’re still having trouble with Akismet, you might want to give TypePad AntiSpam a try. It’s 100% Akismet compatible, but it’s also free and open source (Akismet costs money if you want to make money on your site), and you can grab the plugin for free at http://antispam.typepad.com/ without having to update WordPress or change anything else. Plus, most folks using it so far say it works even better than Akismet.
