Happy Family turned Broken Family

by ParisB on September 9, 2008

Once there was a family wth 3 brothers.

As they were growing up, they acquired a younger step-brother and for 50 years everyone was a big happy family.

One day, the oldest and biggest brother insulted the 2nd and step brothers with the worst insult he could muster. The parents gave the oldest brother a little tap on the wrist and then apologized on the oldest brother’s behalf. However, the 2nd brother and step brother were upset and asked that the oldest brother repent and apologize for himself. The oldest brother, knowing he was the parents’ favourite son, refused insisting that he was in the clear.

Instead, after being badgered by his 2 siblings for days, the oldest brother then asked the parents to disown the step brother instead, calling him a trouble maker. Hooligans even tore up the step brother’s picture – a big insult.

The father and head of the family has not said anything thus far except to say that he has asked the oldest brother to explain himself and his actions. Everyone watching knows that oldest brother will get away with a mere smack on the wrist and an admonishment “not to do it again” so no one really cares what sort of explanation is given because the outcome is almost certain.

Like the Spanish soap operas that run for months, this story about the Happy Family turned Broken Family is an on-going drama with twists and turns happening everyday.

Will the parents chastise the oldest brother and allow him to face legal consequences for his actions and statements?

Will the parents pander to their favourite son and disown the step brother?

Will the actions of hooligans prevail in this Godfather style drama?

Time will tell.

    I think the step brother should find another family, one that will treat him like a brother instead of a visitor.

    @Adino:Haha… ya i’m waiting to see if the step brother will himself walk away instead

    Oldest brother knows father’s dirty secrets and therefore, father dare not take disciplinary action on oldest brother. So, let the step brother become the scapegoat.

    That’s a pretty darn cute way of putting things in perspective! *wink*

    Family soap aside. It would be interesting to do a census or genealogical exercise: how many Malaysians can trace back 3-4 generations, and able to say all their ancestors were born in this land? I can’t, and almost everyone I know can’t!

    @Leah:Actually, I’m 3rd generation Malaysian. Both my paternal grandparents were born here. So, call me a “pendatang” why not?! :P

    I’m thinking the same too. Instead of waiting to be disowned, why don’t the step-brother find another step-parents?

    @Natalie:Maybe now the stepbrother will?
