When Driving in Malaysia

by ParisB on October 9, 2008

The roads were crowded and wet today and due to the traffic jams, full of impatient drivers. As I sat in my car, not moving, waiting for my turnĀ  to inch forward, a huge bus came bearing down my right, close to my car.

There were 2 things I could do.

Insist I was in the right and cut off the bus. Or I could give way and wait for the impatient bus driver to cut across 2 lanes of stuck traffic.

I opted for the latter. Driving in Malaysia has taught me that there is no use being impatient on the roads. Offensive driving only brings offence and a potential accident. Defensive driving may mean you get bullied but at least I get home in one piece, albeit a little latter but safer.

How do you drive?

If it’s a bus, truck or 4 wheel drive, I normally give way…

I’m definitely a defensive driver :-) More cars get going that way esp in Malaysia!
