I use a few drops of my Magnolia essential oil, rub it between my palms and apply it to my back and chest and throat. Works wonders! I use it on my kid as well, cos he doesn't like medicine. Magnolia smells like those Chinese herbs though. I'm not sure how i can send some to you though, but I can tell u where to get it in KL...quite pricey, btw. You poor thing! I had that kind of cough before. I went to the chinese medicine shop, and the guy gave me some chinese pills, take 2 pills, 4 hours once. And by the next day, i was fine! You can just try hopping into one of those chinese medicine shops and tell what kind of cough you have. I tried all sorts of pei pa kou and cough syrup which didn't work.
