So, apparently the rather unused KLIA terminal is a buzz with diverted flights that could not land at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (source)
I used to compare the bustling Suvarnabhumi Airport and Changi Airport with their awesome duty free shopping and our cool, quiet KLIA with its small selection of duty free stores and I would wonder time and again why this is so. Haven’t you? Even better are the free internet terminals at these 2 airports and free phone chargers at Changi.
Its a pity we are benefiting from another’s misfortune but perhaps for once, the KLIA would look as bustling and busy as other international airports in the world. No point having top class infrastructure if it is going to be underused eh?

I agree that each time I am at Changi, I will try to find something to compare to KLIA, but there isn’t. One can even call for free to local S’pore numbers. Duty free shopping is also excellent with plenty of new products being introduced at Changi way before rest of the world. What’s wrong KLIA?
Aha – KLIA always seems to be under-occupied to me…hehe…maybe they ought to bring in more top brands for the shoppers/travelers.
