Fly MAS or SIA or Airasia?

by ParisB on February 10, 2009

I’m going to a neighbouring South East Asian country soon. Since its so near and since I saw that MAS and Airasia are running fare promotions or free fares at this time, I decided to take advantage of the offers.

When I checked Malaysian Airlines, I saw that the cost of 1 return ticket would be in the region of RM1400.

I checked AirAsia, and the price was about RM750 per person but its a budget airline and my budget was for economy seats not budget per se. Also, I’m tired of flying budget – why fly budget when I don’t have to?!

So, on a bit of a whim, I checked out Singapore Airlines SIA which is not running any promotion that i know of.

To my surprise, it cost me only RM1000 for a ticket from KL to my destination (all inclusive of taxes and frills), with a short transit in Changi. Not that I’m complaining about a transit in Changi because that means I get to shop duty free there! :D

Duty free in Changi airport! Woohoo! :D

So, no prizes for guessing which airline I went for. For the price I paid for an SIA ticket, I get to shop duty free 3 times (KLIA, Changi, destination airport) AND its still cheaper than MAS by a long shot.

How lah to fight like that?!
