Is this what we have come down to?

With disgust, I read this piece of news in The Star online (link)

Since when were we a nation of street demonstrations and protesters? Why is UMNO Youth issuing warnings to one individual? Why are illegal gatherings allowed in one of the most congested areas of Kuala Lumpur?

Why is the warning of daily demonstrations issued and published in the newspaper and no youth leader is being hauled off to the ISA or to jail or to be chastised?

Why did the FRU or police not shoot tear gas into the crowd as they did in the mosque in Perak?

Why are we allowing one incident in Perak state spill over into Kuala Lumpur? Why drag our name through mud over some kerropi who for all I know might just decide to hop the other way in a month or two. Then, where will we be?

Clearly, we are not mature enough to make our own decisions and to live with the consequences of our decisions. 51 years and all we have to show for it are street demonstrations, tear gas, frogs and fat cats.

Don’t use politics to sidetrack from the ailing economy. The people don’t care if you are in power – the people don’t care if you aren’t. They do care that RM50 million is a hell of a lot of money that can be put to better use boosting the economy than lining someone else’s pockets just so you can stick your chest out and say you have won.

All we want is to see us ride through the economic maelstrom not ride out politcal chaos.
