Roast Duck, Fish with makeup and a fond farewell to The Actors Studio Bangsar

by ParisB on March 1, 2009

Ok I’m not that keen on sitting on a cold cement floor waiting for my curry rice to be pushed through the door in Kamunting so I’m going to dwell on other stuff now :P

Yesterday saw me having a funfilled day out. It started with a morning out with the girls – PE, Beetrice, Rinnah and Jo with Miracle (Jo’s Chi-Hua-Hua) all the way to the depths of KL – Pudu! We were there to indulge in some lipsmacking roast duck and roast goose. Damn bloody fun I tell you! We have to do it again! :D

Then we went for a walk to the nearby fish market… the live fish for aquarium type market not the dead fish for eating type fish market. Me, I’m not a fish person – I like eating them but I’m just not into staring at them swim around the tank. Whilst I’m not much of a pet lover, I was positively APPALLED at the sight of this:-

The goldfish in this tank had letters and words WRITTEN on their bodies in red ink. Worse still was when I looked closer:-

Makeup! They drew makeup on the fish!! How cruel and sick is that?! Red ink around the mouth and black ink around the eyes. I felt physically sick at this. They were also selling it at RM25 a fish. Whoever buys these fish are as sick as the people who did this to them. I’d like to see someone grab hold of the owner, draw makeup on his face and then put him up for sale. Urgh!

Later in the night saw me at Bangsar Shopping Centre to catch the Gala Farewell performance of The Actor’s Studio Bangsar. Free tickets!

There were some surreal performances and dances, but I was there for the comedy. I only ever go to The Actor’s Studio for comedy and last night saw 2 stand up comics bring the house down – Douglas Lim and Harith Iskandar.

I remember watching Douglas Lim in one of his earlier stage comedic performances in Actorlympics and he was not all that good – funny but not THAT funny. Seeing him perform again last night, I think he’s improved tremendously. He’s funnier and the jokes come faster this time round so yay Douglas! Harith of course needed no prompting. He was a side splitting end to the Gala Farewell which left most of the performers and Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham in tears.

The Actor’s Studio isn’t closing down of course despite the emotional farewells last night. They are just closing shop at BSC but they’ll be opening up again at KLPAC – which makes me happy because its much nearer for me to get to KLPAC! ;) So, I’ll be keeping an eye out for more comedic performances soon – In fact there’s one coming up Wicked Wizards by Gardner & Wife. Wonder if I’ll make it – anyone keen? :)

Ha??? Mai kua? Those buggers actually painted the fish? First of all, it’s just absolutely DISGUSTING. Secondly, when they sell this to the customers, isn’t it going to be dangerous for them to be ingesting the paint as well?

Ugh … sick sick sick!

How on earth did they get the makeup on the fish? Was it mascara or eye liner (or both) that you saw on them?

Actor’s Studio performances I like!!! though I have never been to one before…

I wanna do roadtrip! Genting or Seremban oso can!

The poor fishies… although I don’t think anyone would want to buy the owner – imagine uncle with makeup on for sale… lawl!

p.s. Eh, did you do anything to your Wordpress? It won’t allow me to comment on 2 different posts one after another. It thinks I’m s-p-a-m-m-i-n-g… :(

Gosh! What sort of waterproof make-up he used on those fishies I wonder!

Yay! Me didn’t know Actors Studio moving to KLPAC, I thought they’d shut shop forever and was quite upset about it. That’s going to be nearer for me too! Double yay!

@Cheesey: I guessed it would be KLPAC coz Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham have a share in it too. They never said so but sorta hinted at it :)
