Swanking it up at Hakka Republic

by ParisB on May 21, 2009

First off, Hakka Republic is NOT a Hakka restaurant. I made the mistake the first time I was there thinking I could have some swanky Hakka food. What it is is a wine bar and western restaurant. o_O Yes, thats how I felt.

Anyway, I was at the Hakka Republic recently for a Tiffany & Co event. Ooh swanky! :D Sis got the invite and roped me in *mwaks* I love her … yes I do! :)

It was the showcase of the Paloma Picasso collection and I was there to swank  it up a little, drink copius amounts of pink champagne and snack on a neverending array of nibblets that were surprisingly good! My favourite was the Mussels Moneybags pictured next to the champagne. You’d need some serious moneybags to afford stuff at Tiffany & Co!

I went to check out the Paloma Picasso collection in an inner sanctuary. Some of them seriously appealed to me, but their prices were so way out of my reach. See that gem on a chain? Its gorgeous and a cool 100 carats worth of semi-precious stone. I went to check out the price.

A cool RM20,000! *faints* Its like having a small car around your neck!

So I looked on quite forlornly until I sat myself down at a table showing some of the more … ahem… affordable items and something caught my eye. Uh oh…

I saw the Paloma Picasso Loving Heart pendant with red enamel on silver around the neck of the sales assistant (there was none on display) and I immediately felt drawn to it. You know what they say – jewelry chooses you, you do not choose jewelry! ;)

Teehee…
