With all the brouhaha about Krispy Kreme opening up its first store in Malaysia and kids queuing up for 3 days just to have a year’s supply of Krispy Kreme, it was with a little evil glee that I saw this on Yahoo’s headlines this morning.
Restaurant chains in danger of closing.
Among those named were… you guessed it, Krispy Kreme!
That said, the article isn’t as dire as I make it out to be. They did say that lenders have given them some breathing space until 2011
The temporary reprieve expires in 2011. By then, the company hopes that streamlining, profitable new overseas stores, and other measures will have strengthened its finances.
“Profitable new overseas stores” <- That would be us yes? Though I’ve yet to succumb to their doughnuts.
I wonder why.
