When I was last in Johor Bahru, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It was awful. Actually, it beyond awful! It was so awful that when I had to go down to JB again recently, I said, “Lets find another hotel!”
I wanted to take a trip into Singapore, so I asked around and was told that the Puteri Pan Pacific JB was the nearest. Only its now known as the Puteri Pacific Hotel. Oh well, different name, same hotel. I’d stayed there many years ago and remembered it was a little dim and dull. Oh well, better than the Hyatt that’s for sure!
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised that the Puteri Pacific Hotel is a pretty decent hotel to stay in Johor Bahru! If you want to book, use this link. I get nothing, but the other link you’ll find online is a right scam. There’s no phone number and no way to contact except through email. Oh and no rates too.

So use the link I showed you and take this promotion of RM150 nett a night. The catch is that you MUST book through email. But do it, and trust me, its one of the best rates I’ve gotten in JB or anywhere!
The room is decent and clean. The beds are comfortable and not too soft. Everything is a little basic but for RM150 I won’t complain. The bathroom could do with a little facelift though. The water tends to run around the rim of the bath and wet the floor which is a bother. But otherwise, its all decent.

What’s fascinating is that you get a free minibar! How about that? Its quite fun sitting in bed in the hotel bath robe watching TV and munching on chips and drinking coke from the minibar. In most other hotels, you’d pay through your nose for the drinks and snacks.

Here, you get 2 bottles of water and 2 cans each of a cola, orange, green tea and lychee drink and a bag of tapioca chips! Yes, I cleaned out the minibar – why waste it?
In the morning, you get 2 buffet breakfasts which is quite substantial.
All for RM150 nett if you book online. I had to extend my stay for another night but could not get the internet rate so I paid RM230 nett. Still pretty decent all things considered.
So yeah, next time you go to Johor Bahru and need a hotel you can do worse than stay at the Puteri Pacific Hotel Johor Bahru.
And if they now wish to reward me with a free stay, let the record show that I am willing to accept

Aha, a new hotel to consider if I have to go down to JB again! I stayed at the Mutiara JB during my last trip in April. It wasn’t too bad either – corporate rate with breakfast was RM195++.
Wow…that’s an interesting review of puteri pan pacific. I never spend a night day because I’m a JB dweller. However, I always come to Puteri Pan Pacific for various other reasons…
But seriously RM150 from online booking is damn cheap for a hotel of that status…
Well, for those are are fed up on hotel, maybe can try homestay in JB. I found one at jb-homestay.blogspot.com. I think it is cozy and affordable for huge families…what do you think?
I have always stayed at this hotel when I make trips to JB for my work though I must say, it’s been at least 5 years already! Still, the pictures show nothing much has changed but for that price, you can’t really find fault with them. I remembered that the buffet breakfast was generous too…something I enjoyed before I go to battle
